The 3 C’s to attracting your ideal CLIENT!

Published by Karie Millspaugh on

My day started on a REALLY high note as I had just finished a session with one of my clients.

She had a mini break through and saw where she kept getting stuck in her business. It brings me SO MUCH JOY to see them reach a new level in their business! I’m not just referring to income, I’m referring to BEING that person that is READY TO MAKE THAT INCOME! You have to THINK like a multiple six figure coach before you can BE ONE. I coach on mindset more than strategy because that is where the secret to success is hidden.

women in biz As many of you know my ideal client is female entrepreneurs that have a passion for business as well as a passion to help others. I make it easier for them to do what they love and find the best money making strategy that works for THEM. I call them my entrepreneurs by design. I do not believe in a one size fits all coaching session. I like to cater your business to YOU.

So if you’re having some challenges finding your ideal clients, I encourage you to take a close look at how you’re marketing yourself and relating to them. Coaching is a relationship business and if you really struggle with building relationships, then by all means work on this area of your business, –>>>> seriously STOP all other strategies and get really good at building relationships. That is what brings in a client and KEEPS a client as much as achieving results together…

Here are some key strategies to help you with your marketing, sales and closing your clients:

communicateCommunication

First take a long look at your copy. Is your marketing ad written to encourage a relationship with someone or are you speaking AT people? Are you using ideal words to empower and encourage them to higher levels of growth or are you using words that appeal to those that aren’t looking for growth, just a shoulder to cry on.

This is where a lot of coaches get stuck.

They want to save the world, and yes, we have the heart to do so…but at the same time. You may be preaching to the wrong congregation. Some people don’t want to be helped… they just want pity. If they aren’t willing to meet you halfway then by all means keep them on your radar but move forward. There are MANY potential clients that ARE ready for growth and goal achievement. Perhaps those that are looking for a hand out or pity will come around when they’ve decided to own up to their situation and are ready to take action.

My best advice is to think of someone you know, someone that is either already your ideal client or someone you want to work with and write your ad, copy or newsletter as if it were a personal letter to them. Sales in this type of business industry is a lot like dating… you have to build off the first date before proposing or taking the relationship to the next step.  Jumping in too soon can actually create an odd feeling to some that aren’t ready to work with you.

connectConnection

Don’t confuse connection with commonality. That’s not what I’m referring to, although that always helps for a friendship, if that’s all you are looking for.
One thing that I’ve realized over the years while working on my own relationship building strategies is to always come from a place of empathy. If someone is describing to you their goals, vision and dreams…do what you can to relate. Being RELATABLE and having the heart to GO THERE with your client as they paint a picture of what they are looking to achieve will help you build a connection.
What I like to do is find an experience in my lifetime where I was feeling a similar emotion so that I can meet their vibration on an energetic level. I want to FEEL their happiness, their joy as well as their pain so I can better serve them as a coach. If I never achieve the level of importance that their goals are, how can I be fully engaged with them to empower them to hit that level in life? I want to care as much as they do about our results while working together.

care

Care

You’ve heard the saying, “People don’t care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
Are you genuine in your coaching practice? Or are you just in it for the money and lifestyle?
No matter how good you try to fake it, the truth always comes out. Your mask will slip and your clients won’t stick around for long. If you don’t TRULY care about their life and goals…they will sniff it out in a short period of time.
A little tough love…if you don’t genuinely have a compassionate heart for others, then coaching is NOT the career of choice for you. With all my love and support…go find another career choice.
For those of us that DO truly care about our clients…show it, and often. Go the extra mile to encourage them…send gifts, spontaneous emails of encouragement. Praise their hard work publicly. We live in an age where words of affirmation doesn’t exist like they should and you….as THEIR COACH may be the only person that stopped long enough to praise them today.

Do you think that your client’s longevity of working with you may increase and…. Perhaps they will even refer more clients to you?

Hope you found this strategy easy to remember. It has worked well for me for many years while attracting the right clients and selling the intangible.

Cheers to your business success!
