Life is a serious balancing act…
I noticed how content I was feeling the other day and I smiled to myself as I realized what I was feeling, was balanced. Life is a serious balancing act, wouldn’t you agree? In fact I feel this way right now as I share this with you. I’ve just returned from a long weekend with my wonderful family in Michigan.
Do you ever have those days where you just feel empty or you’re running low on fuel? For some reason, you havent stopped long enough to take a quick self-awareness check to see what it is though you just keep going forward gritting your teeth. Please stop. You see, you dont have to live that way. We are all connected and our energy is as well, so what you feel is passed on to your colleague, family member and friends. Do a quick self-alignment in 5 key areas that I believe are VITAL, yes…VITAL like oxygen to your life.
When all cylinders are working properly you have a smoother ride/life. Am I right? Everyday doesnt feel like a chore or another task, its enjoyable, which brings a smile or maybe even some pep in your step. Would you like to wake up everyday with clarity and a schedule that allows you to live a full life, not just getting through the day? Some of us fall into bed exhausted unhappy, just to repeat the same routine the following day.
NO MORE!!!
My gift to you is to not just read this, but actually apply it to your life.
Not later- NOW!
No excuses, no comments of I dont have time Karie. Im a single mom, running 2 careers successfully, my daughter is balanced and brilliantly loved, I am physically active and have a great social circle of amazing relationships, and manage to squeeze in family time although they are over 2000 miles away. It IS possible if I can master this, so can you.
I want you to start creating a calendar or schedule for yourself. Right now, yes go grab a pen and paper.
Create an outline with these 5 key categories. This is something I personally coach my clients to do. Make 5 boxes, within each box label it with the headline from below, Spiritual, Mental, etc within the box, write down ideas or activities that fall into each category.
- Spiritual
- Emotional
- Financial
- Mental
- Physical
Im going to give you an idea of my personal schedule so that you can gain a better perspective.
Pssst… This really is my schedule, I lead by example.
My schedule:
My Spiritual Box: (this is time set aside to connect with your inner spirit) attend church, read a devotional quote, attend a bible study, watch a recording of Joyce Meyer on my DVR, Connect with other Christian/spiritual friends, yoga, nature walk, meditation
My Mental Box: (this is your learning time) Books I want to read, articles in magazines I need to review, Educational videos that I need to watch, workshops that I may want to attend.
My Emotional Box: (Relationship time) Connect with my mom for a phone call, call brother- sister, quality time with my daughter, social activity with close friends, time with my romantic interest
My Physical Box: (Anything that requires moving-physically) Volleyball with friends, roller-skating with my daughter, hiking, hot hula class, boot camp class, cardio at the gym, bike ride, snowboarding,
My Financial Box: (Anything that generates income or surrounding money) write newsletters, blog, adding chapters to my upcoming book, log invoices into spreadsheet/tax info., balance expenses, audit income, creating group coaching programs, video production, interview more experts, etc
I think you get the idea. Now you should be able to insert something everyday into your schedule from all 5 boxes. When your day feels balanced hitting all 5 cores of your being, you will start to feel amazing! If you cant squeeze in anymore then 10 minutes of one activity, do it. Its better than letting it slide. Trust me, this works!
I challenge you to try this for a month and see how your life progresses. You may see a huge shift in your physical appearance as you get healthier and happier. You may see a shift in your business or career, as you are more energetic in your work environment. You will also know on those days where you’re feeling grumpy, that most likely you missed out on something from those 5 key areas. Keep track and report your feedback to me…
P.S. If you found this article to be helpful, leave me a comment. I would love to hear from you personally of your feedback.
Live a balanced life, starting today!
All my love,
Karie Millspaugh
